It is currently one of the most prestigious events in the fashion calendar; London Fashion Week. All over the city are catwalks, talks and special events as part of the one-week festival held in the capital. So it’s the perfect time to take advantage of connections and become a part of it! (In other words, a lot of googling to find open-to-the-public type events).

In celebration of Mulberry’s Spring/ Summer ’18 collection launch, they had taken over Spencer House in central London for the weekend (17-18 Feb) to host ‘Beyond Heritage’. From what I found online, they had a quite a few workshops and presentations over the weekend including talks from Stylists and presentations on how to style the new collection with Vogue.

It was a beautiful sunny day, like a preview to summer, and I went along with my close friend Saskia. We were welcomed into a gorgeous stately home and led through the house, out to the back, where Mulberry had completely taken over the back garden. There was a gorgeous giant pink wall with flowers that ran from one end to another. It was beautiful and we made sure to take lots of pictures!

After being ushered into a room, we sat down on those benches; the ones you only see during fashion week. Around the room on the other side were mannequins wearing the Spring/ Summer collection. All the pieces were bright and beautiful, capturing the essence of Summer. And there were quite a few pieces I could see myself wearing.

They had a talk on with LA born stylist duo Brit + Kara, from Elkin and editorial direction Hannah Almassi from Who What Wear UK. It was really interesting to find out more about the world of styling and I picked up a few styling tips from them too!

They highlighted at the beginning there’s a misconception that styling is a glamorous job when it’s actually harder than it looks and there’s added pressure as you become in charge of someone’s image, their brand.

They made comparisons between LA style and British style, exclaiming “you’re too cool for us!” Pointing out how trends don’t really work that well in the UK as every girl is individual and has her own unique style of dressing whether it be classic, punk, posh etc. In Britain, we have a lot of timeless pieces in our wardrobe whereas, in LA, it’s more based on trends.

After the talk, we had the chance to look around the house, which was stunning! In one of the rooms upstairs, they had a few ladies who make some of the bags for Mulberry and I got the chance to ask a few questions I always wanted to know.

It was a very eventful morning and I spent the rest of the day, hanging out my friends. Being a part of the LFW festivities was really fun and an absolute dream. I’m off to the London Fashion Week Festival next weekend, so it’s not over yet!

Looking good is something that is important to all of us. It’s the way others view us and it impacts on the way we see ourselves too. I like to think that I always look some level of presentable when I leave my house in the morning. When you look good, you feel good and that’s all we really want out of life. Right?

The other day I was chatting with my friend about the key to looking good. We each raised a few points and agreed with a lot of them. It inspired me to write a little blog post about it. So here are my tips and tricks on how to make sure you’re always looking good:

#1 Wardrobe. Having a good wardrobe is key! When you own a wardrobe full of lovely clothes, you’ll find that even when you decide to “chuck” something on, you’ll look good every time. And if you only take one thing away from this post remember it’s about having good foundations. Once you have that, everything slots into place. (I have a post coming out soon with some wardrobe essentials so stay tuned for that!)

#2 Confidence. Everything nowadays comes down to confidence and it has a right to. Confidence is the one thing that has the power to change everything. You have to feel confident in the clothes you wear in order to look good. Remember it isn’t the clothes that wear you, YOU wear the clothes. So feel confident in them and own it!

#3 Make Subtle Changes. This is more of a way to upgrade your outfit which in turn keeps you looking good. Switch up your look by making subtle changes, it can instantly change an outfit and look a million times better. Add a thin belt to a dress or tuck in the front of your shirt/ jumper and it’ll make the biggest difference, trust me. The shirt trick is a great way for jumpers to look less frumpy and it flatters every body shape, too. I’m always doing this!

#4 Contrast. I love a little contrast in everyday life; it brings so much to the situation and this case, the outfit. When I get ready, I usually have one item that’s fitted and another which is looser. This helps to round the outfit and saves you from looking too much of one thing, arriving at a nice balance. Skinny jeans and a loose shirt is a good combo, especially if you tuck in the front of the shirt. You can use contrast with your shoes, going for a structured shoe with a loose outfit etc. And even with your bag, choosing an unlined tote to go with a structured outfit.

So those are just a few of my tips and tricks to always looking good. I’ll post a part 2 in the coming weeks. Feel free to leave your own tips and tricks in the comments below.

Hello Lovelies! The time has come for me to do the task that I’ve been dreading for so long; it’s time to clear out my closet!

A few of my resolutions this year are style orientated such as going for a more natural look, toning it down on the big push up bras, and putting an effort into what I wear every day. I also want to build my wardrobe and buy a few luxury items. But to do that, I need some room and at the moment I don’t have any.

I’m a bit of a shopaholic. I love buying clothes, shoes, and lingerie especially! The only issue is I forget to chuck out the old stuff I’ve replaced and so my wardrobe is currently bursting at its seams. It’s time to throw out the clothes that are too small, too old, ones I haven’t worn in a long time and ones that no longer suits my style. Hopefully, I’ll be able to find a few items I haven’t worn in a long time that I can use and find some new outfit combinations.

It will also make dressing in the mornings a lot easier as I won’t have a mountain of clothes to look through!

So that adventure starts with my underwear drawer! I’ve built up quite a large collection of bits that should have been chucked out a long time ago. I mean having over 10 bras is probably a little too much *looks elsewhere* but throwing away Victoria's Secret bras just feels wrong!

Anyway, like I mentioned at the beginning of the post, I have a few style resolutions for this year. I’m tired of the same old looks and a lot of the clothes I have I’ve had since I was doing my GCSE’s and I’ve come a long way since then. A good wardrobe should grow with you, evolve as you do.

This year, I want to work on having a wardrobe that’s stylish, chic and looks a little more expensive than it actually costs. I love the feeling of wearing stylish clothes that make you feel a million times more than your worth. And I’ve found that when you have great options to choose from it’s very easy to look amazing every day.

One thing I’ve realised so far is that simple pieces and simple makeup are a very easy way of looking stylish. Looking natural is also another way that works. I’ve found myself braving it with less padded bras and a few slightly loose but fitted items.

Have you guys got any style resolutions for the year ahead?

Dare I ask the question- have you started present shopping yet? Getting your Christmas present shopping done early is the best thing as you can be nice and relaxed by the time Christmas Day comes along. The key to a great Christmas gift is that it’s heartfelt and there was thought put into it.

Being obsessed with everything fashion, beauty and lifestyle, it made sense that I put together a wishlist of my top picks for what to get for Christmas. My edit includes a few must-haves for any fashion lover and those interested in Style, Beauty and personal appearance.

Books

Apologies for the colours, having issues with backgrounds in my uni room
How to be a Parisian- I have been obsessed with everything French lately. They just do everything better from romance to fashion to skincare. How to be a Parisian is a book written by a group of French women who write about every aspect of life. This is definitely one of those of books that anyone interested in Lifestyle would love and for those interested in French living.

Love x Style x LifeGarance Dore - This is definitely on my wishlist for Christmas. I’m going to say it’s somewhat similar to How to be a Parisian as it’s like a guide that takes you through different parts with personal stories weaved in. Nicknamed the French Grace Coddington, this book is guaranteed to set hearts racing and provide an insightful guide to the life of a fashion blogger.

Inside Vogue, Alexandra Shulman- For those who have ever wondered what being the editor at Vogue is like, this book is one for you. It’s a diary by the fabulous and former editor Alexandra Shulman taking the reader through the centenary year. She talks about the Fashion Weeks and Designers to the business of running a magazine and all the work behind the scenes. This book is not only perfect for those interested in fashion but also those interested in magazine journalism too.

The Bare Essentials, Tracy Martin- The perfect stocking filler! For anyone with a love of lingerie and the relationship we have with it, this book is perfect. It’s a short and sweet little book examining the history and how underwear has evolved through the years.

Films

Confessions of a Shopaholic- For all my shopaholics out there, this is your film! It’s the perfect girls night in film or for when you just need a good laugh. Based on Sophie Kinsella’s novel, Confessions of a Shopaholic (you should read that too), the film featuring Isla Fisher is perfect for anyone obsessed with fashion and shopping. The laugh out loud comedy is full of clothes, shopping and more clothes! A dream, right?

Sex and The City- Friends, Fashion, Manhatten and Sex! The perfect combination. The Sex and the City series and films are a must see!

Devil Wears Prada- Nothing beats a Meryl Streep film especially when she's playing Miranda Priestly. Featuring Anne Hathaway, this film makes the list of films you have to watch at least once and know about.

If you're looking to spend a little more cash, a Jo Malone candle, like this one, is the perfect gift! It smells heavenly and is loved by everyone!

It's a short little edit but those are just a few ideas of what you can get a fashion/ beauty/ lifestyle obsessed fanatic. Some of them I even have on my own wish list!

Winter is well underway now and with the weather getting colder it’s time to update and add a few more pieces to the winter wardrobe. As you may already know, I love to shop and it's probably one of the main reasons why I can cope with the season. The feel of wearing new clothes and the new outfit possibilities is enough to keep me going through the cold.

I thought I’d share with you and do a mini haul of just some of the new pieces I’ve picked up to give you an idea of what I'll be wearing this winter and that might also help you with your winter wardrobe.

Short Check Dress, Zara- Checked dresses never go out of fashion and this one from Zara is the perfect addition to your winter wardrobe. It's long sleeve and made of a slightly thicker material to keep you warm on the cold winter days. It's casual and stylish with a relaxed A-line silhouette. Accessorise it a thin brown belt and some cute boots. Price: £29.99

Over-the-knee socks, Primark- When you're bored of wearing trousers and tights, over-the-knee socks are a perfect alternative. They keep most of your legs toasty and warm, allowing you to show a little leg and wear a cute miniskirt. The one you never thought you’d get to wear once it hit December. Price: £3

Grey Star Dressing Gown, Next- Sometimes you have to splurge a little to make sure you’re getting a quality product. Next have always had great nightwear/ loungewear that lasts for ages. Sitting in my cold uni room, this dressing gown has been a lifesaver! It’s so cosy to snuggle into and watch a film or just lounge around the house in. It’s one of those dressing gowns you know will keep you warm for years and doesn’t have a one-year expiry date. Price: £26

Down Puffer Anorak with contrasting hood, Zara- I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get on the Zara puffy coat bandwagon! Not only is it stylish and casual, it's so warm! I’ve been missing out on this. All those days I spent cold in a cheap jacket when I could have been warm and toasty wrapped up in a Zara puffer. Also, the hood is huge and I love the detachable fur trim. Price: £69.99

White Knitted Top, Lindex- I am obsessed with this top!! I love the sleeves and how they flare out, adding a little something to the otherwise plain jumper. It’s 50% wool and is the softest thing I think I’ve ever owned! I usually wear it tucked into my favourite pair of green trousers or some jeans. The only downside is it’s hand wash only so that’s going to be fun. Not. Price: £29.99

So those are just a few recent pieces added to my Winter Wardrobe. I hope you’ve enjoyed it and found inspiration. The key to buying winter clothes is to make sure their versatile (can be worn anywhere) and that they can be worn with anything. Nothing's worse than only being able to pair a jumper with black skinny jeans.

Ted Baker is a brand I adore. Their designs are a mixture of class, femininity, and elegance all wrapped in beautiful pieces of clothing and accessories. I never thought I would be fortunate to be able to afford a Ted Baker item, especially not before 25. But life is good, and with an outlet just around the corner and added student discount, I decided to treat myself to a little something. Because we all deserve to treat ourselves every now and then, right?

Stuck between two beautiful purses, I finally came to a decision, choosing a purse that I felt was the epitome of Ted Baker. It is a classic Ted Baker design, simplicity at its best. And also, one that represented me and my style. I think elegance goes a long way in the world; its classic beauty.

The purse is a soft and subtle nude pink, detailed with a rose gold/ copper bow on the front and a pocket on the back. The inside is a gorgeous rich plum color with plenty of space for all my new cards. Oh and the lining, (if you didn’t know about Ted Baker lining then you need to), matches the nude pink with printed classic Ted Baker bows all over. I love the simplicity and this purse is beautiful.
