Eye mask and body spray flatlay

Everything about summer makes me happy. The long nights, the constant light and the warm weather. The list could go on. While the constant heat is nice during the day, it can be unwanted in the evening. And on most nights, I’m tossing and turning trying to find the “cool place” on my mattress. Or waiting for a cool breeze to flow through my open window. Either way, it can start to feel like a mission to have a good nights sleep during the summer.

Here are four must haves to add to your summer night survival kit:

Silk/ satin pjs: I practically LIVE in these come June. H&M do really cute satin sets with a lace detail or frilly shorts. I currently have them in black floral, pink and blue. If you’re really struggling with the heat, Hollister have some really cute cotton two-pieces which will help keep you a little cooler.

Rituals, The Ritual of Karma Body Spray: I love adding a little bit of luxury to my routines and on summer nights, it comes in the form of this gorgeous Rituals Karma body spray. Smelling of holy lotus and white tea, it's a beautiful calming scent. I spray three or four pumps and let the fragarance wash over me.

H&M Satin PJ's

Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic: There’s nothing better than those summer evening showers, washing away the suncream and dirt from the day. I recently decided to simplify my skincare routine while on acne medication to help improve my skin. You can read my latest acne post here. All Liz Earle products are vegan friendly and made from natural ingredients. This toner is soothing on the skin and the natural fragrance adds to the floral of summer. Tip- If you leave your toner in the fridge, it’s really nice and cool on your skin when you get around to applying it.

Eye mask: Did you know during the summer months of Iceland, they can get up to 21 hours of sunlight? If you’re someone who wakes up with the light and struggles to get back to sleep, it’s well worth investing in an eye mask. I bought mine from H&M last year as part of their Love Stories x H&M collection and I adore it. I really like the tie detail at the back which allows you to tie it as tightly as you like and you don’t have to worry about stretching it out.

There you have it. Four must haves I think are important for those hot summer nights. I thought about adding more but when it comes down to it, less is more. And when, it’s 30 degrees in my room, the last thing I’m reaching for is something to add more layers.

What is in your summer nights survival kit?

Hello, lovelies! I hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas. If you're like me and the celebrations have finished then you may already be planning the shopping trip to indulge yourself in. I'm currently on my way to the shops and while I wait to get there, I've put together some tips and tricks.

Boxing Day shopping is a lot like a military operation. There are certain steps that must be taken in order to have a successful shopping trip.

If you don’t know already, I am obsessed with fashion and beauty and I L O V E to shop! For the last 4 years, I’ve ventured out after Christmas for the Boxing Day Sales and I’ve picked up a few tips and tricks along the way to making it a successful shop. Because going out shopping and not picking up anything is the worse thing! Especially when you’ve dedicated a day to it!!

Like I said earlier, Boxing day shopping is a lot like a military operation and here is how we conquer it…

Step 1- Be prepared! It can feel a lot like you’ve landed in chaos when you get to the shops. To land on your feet, have a few ideas of what you want to buy and where to go. Before I go out, I put together a small mental list of some items I’d like to pick up. On the way there, my friend and I plan the shops we want to hit and in what order. This will set you on your feet and after a successful purchase, you’ll find your rhythm.

Step 2- Arrive Early but not too early! You want to get there somewhat early to have a good choice of the items in the sale but you don’t want to get there too early otherwise you’ll get stuck in the queues and waste your day. Arriving a little later will guarantee a good choice of what’s on sale and you’ll miss the queues by 15-30 minutes.

Step 3- Shop methodically. Stick to the plan you made of what shops to hit and in what order. Once that’s done and you have most of the things you came out for, you can start looking in other shops.

Step 4- Don’t Rush and stay calm. There’s no need to rush around like headless chickens from shop to shop. You’ve dedicated the whole day to shopping and by taking your time in each shop, you’ll find some hidden treasures. You’ll also find yourself as the calm amongst the storm which is great for the mind.

Step 5- Boxing Day shopping sets off the new year. I always pick up a few clothes that I know will sort me through the year ahead. Take advantage of the sales and buy things you like! Don’t feel restricted by the weather outside, I’m that person who buys a few summer items when it’s minus 2 outside. My Mum’s always telling me off but I was brought up to take advantage of the opportunity. And that, I do

Those are my tips and tricks for conquering the Boxing Day Sales. Whether you’re ready to hit the shops on the busiest day or wait a few days,
Happy Shopping!!

Winter is well underway now and with the weather getting colder it’s time to update and add a few more pieces to the winter wardrobe. As you may already know, I love to shop and it's probably one of the main reasons why I can cope with the season. The feel of wearing new clothes and the new outfit possibilities is enough to keep me going through the cold.

I thought I’d share with you and do a mini haul of just some of the new pieces I’ve picked up to give you an idea of what I'll be wearing this winter and that might also help you with your winter wardrobe.

Short Check Dress, Zara- Checked dresses never go out of fashion and this one from Zara is the perfect addition to your winter wardrobe. It's long sleeve and made of a slightly thicker material to keep you warm on the cold winter days. It's casual and stylish with a relaxed A-line silhouette. Accessorise it a thin brown belt and some cute boots. Price: £29.99

Over-the-knee socks, Primark- When you're bored of wearing trousers and tights, over-the-knee socks are a perfect alternative. They keep most of your legs toasty and warm, allowing you to show a little leg and wear a cute miniskirt. The one you never thought you’d get to wear once it hit December. Price: £3

Grey Star Dressing Gown, Next- Sometimes you have to splurge a little to make sure you’re getting a quality product. Next have always had great nightwear/ loungewear that lasts for ages. Sitting in my cold uni room, this dressing gown has been a lifesaver! It’s so cosy to snuggle into and watch a film or just lounge around the house in. It’s one of those dressing gowns you know will keep you warm for years and doesn’t have a one-year expiry date. Price: £26

Down Puffer Anorak with contrasting hood, Zara- I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get on the Zara puffy coat bandwagon! Not only is it stylish and casual, it's so warm! I’ve been missing out on this. All those days I spent cold in a cheap jacket when I could have been warm and toasty wrapped up in a Zara puffer. Also, the hood is huge and I love the detachable fur trim. Price: £69.99

White Knitted Top, Lindex- I am obsessed with this top!! I love the sleeves and how they flare out, adding a little something to the otherwise plain jumper. It’s 50% wool and is the softest thing I think I’ve ever owned! I usually wear it tucked into my favourite pair of green trousers or some jeans. The only downside is it’s hand wash only so that’s going to be fun. Not. Price: £29.99

So those are just a few recent pieces added to my Winter Wardrobe. I hope you’ve enjoyed it and found inspiration. The key to buying winter clothes is to make sure their versatile (can be worn anywhere) and that they can be worn with anything. Nothing's worse than only being able to pair a jumper with black skinny jeans.
